Just what the Doc ordered.

I love my friends. I love the times we spend together and the laughs we share. Now I understand how cheesy this sounds, but it couldn't be any truer ; ) Last Friday night was a number of adverbs. It was  relaxing, jovial, and  much anticipated. Madeline and I had been drooling over the idea of having a girl's night in once Jannelle Dawn was in town. Well Jannelle is here and the other night happened. I wish I could somehow allow you to feel the sense of relaxation I had as I took in the chatter of friends while the house was filled with Billie Holiday's musical marvelous-ness. Jannelle was frosting our delicious homemade chocolate cake, and Leah whipped together her Mama's version of lasagna. Yeah it was good. Not only that but the drive over, goodness gracious! It was as if that night was meant for greatness. I drove over as the sun was setting, windows were down, and Cat Power was on full blast. Mmm...

After watching the oven like a bunch of antsy kids, we chowed down on some good grub and watched a lovely movie. Strangely I had never seen Benny and Joon and Madeline loves it, therefore it was the night's choice. I was keen on it too! Afterwards we chatted some more and simply took in the goodness of old friends and new friends enjoying one another's company. I believe that it's times like these, among other things, that makes life a ton more favorable. Amidst the mundane, it's the small things of cooking dinner and watching movies with the people you love that allow life to remain and or become interesting. It makes a long work or school week do-able. All this to say I look forward to more dinner parties with friends, more movie nights, and more quality time spent with my amigos. Life is good, God is good. Till next time...
